DSR Corporation Brings Product-Level Suzi to ZBOSS 5.0

DSR Corporation (DSR) has expanded ZBOSS 5.0 (ZBOSS) with product-level support for Suzi, the long-range sub-GHz capability in Zigbee 4.0.
DSR has supported sub-GHz Zigbee at the platform level for two years, paving the way for product-level support. With the opening of the Suzi product certification program by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), manufacturers can now move from platform implementation to commercial product development.
With Suzi, Zigbee can operate in the 868 MHz band in Europe and 915 MHz band in North America, extending Zigbee connectivity into applications that require greater range and the ability to communicate through physical obstacles.
What Is Suzi?
Suzi is the sub-GHz capability in Zigbee 4.0. It extends Zigbee into lower-frequency radio bands while retaining Zigbee mesh networking, security, features and standards-based interoperability.
The key benefit is greater reach. sub-GHz signals can travel greater distances and through physical obstacles, making Suzi well suited for devices located between floors, across large buildings, in basements and garages, outdoors, or throughout industrial environments.
For manufacturers, Suzi adds another RF option within the Zigbee ecosystem, giving product teams greater flexibility when selecting the radio frequency and hardware platform for a Zigbee product. Rather than requiring a separate connectivity approach for sub-GHz applications, Suzi brings that option into Zigbee 4.0 and the established Zigbee development framework.
Why ZBOSS 5.0 for Suzi?
ZBOSS now includes Suzi capabilities, extending DSR’s cross-platform Zigbee stack to support sub-GHz product development. With support for SoCs, MCUs, and transceivers across more than 25 platforms, as well as Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal environments, manufacturers have flexibility in selecting the hardware and development environment for their Suzi products.
Beyond the ZBOSS stack, DSR provides services for porting ZBOSS to new HW platforms, optimizing it for customer specific needs, and making it ready for the CSA platform certification testing.

Smart Buildings
Suzi can connect lighting, HVAC controls, energy management systems, access systems, and environmental sensors across commercial buildings, including multiple floors, mechanical spaces, and utility areas.
Smart Metering and Energy
Electricity, gas, and water meters are strong applications for Suzi, along with energy monitoring and control systems that exchange relatively small amounts of data.
Residential and Multi-Dwelling Environments
Applications include security sensors, garage controls, utility monitoring, energy devices, access systems, outdoor sensors and lighting, and home automation across homes and multi-dwelling properties.
Industrial and Large-Site IoT
Factories, warehouses, campuses, and other large properties can use Suzi for low-data-rate sensors, monitoring systems, and controls distributed across larger sites.
From Platform Support to Product-Level Suzi
DSR's sub-GHz work began at the platform level. With product-level Suzi support now available in ZBOSS and CSA product-level certification becoming available, manufacturers can move toward developing and certifying commercial Suzi devices.
