Some Questions about ZigBee stack, ZBOSS

Dear all,

I'm a researcher of University of Minho in Portugal, and I have some question to you about ZBoss:

- The open-source ZigBee® protocol stack, ZBOSS implements a full stack or only the network layer?

- The ZBOSS stack is compatible with WPAN libraries?

- If I choose the ZBOSS 2.0 stack, how much cost? And,which type of support are included?

I'm very excited and interested with your work, well done.

RE: Some Questions about ZigBee stack, ZBOSS

A: Yes, ZBOSS v1.0 implements full featured ZigBee 2007 specification implementation, including MAC, Network, APS, ZDO layers.

- The ZBOSS stack is compatible with WPAN libraries?

A: ZigBee stays on 802.15.4 MAC implementation. IEEE 805.15.4 MAC specifies physical layer and medium access control for low-rate wireless personal area networks LR-WPAN, so from this point of view it complies with WPAN standard. ZBOSS implements MAC layer and does not use any 3rd party library. If you mean some particular WPAN library implementation in your question, then the answer will be - most likely ZBOSS is not compatible on API level with it. However, adopter layer may be developed to use some 3rd party MAC implementation instead of the currently used implementation.
